El Zarape in Emerald Isle

Two days in a row for lunch. Good basic menu pricing and freshest ingredients.

They used to be pretty good however they have gone downhill. Cleanliness was very bad dead Flies on windowsill and food quality has deteriorated. We have gone there for the past five years but will not be back.

Visit in July 2020: this location has signs posted for COVID precautions, however these precautions are not fully followed. They sit people within 6 ft of each other (booths), where they could’ve easily left a booth in between people (especially that they say they’re capping the amount of people allowed inside). Most of the employees were wearing masks, but not all. Aside from this, the food was very good. I really appreciated that they have vegetarian options BUT you need to very clearly state that you want it to be vegetation. Some dishes can be vegetarian or meat based (even if the dish is listed under the vegetarian options), and that’s what happened to me, but they quickly rectified the situation so I really appreciated that. All in all a good place.

Restaurant smelled horrible when we walked through the door. We waited on our food for a long time and 5 out of 6 orders were incorrectly made. Not even that great tasting meal tbh.

It's a great place to eat! The food and salsa are both very good! It's the first place I've found here that has both great food & salsa. The servers are on point, they kept our drinks full and are very nice.

A group of friends and I were in town on business when we came across this place. We were skeptical based on reviews, but at the end we were glad we chose here! The food was great and the staff was friendly and accepting of our large party of people. The atmosphere was nice and mood was chill, casual, I would recommend.

Delicious food will with reasonable prices. Will hopefully go back soon. Loved it

Just good Mexican food when you need it.

Done with this place. Last time we were told 15 mins. After 50, we had no food and left. When we asked at the 50 min mark, we were told they hadn’t even started on it but kept taking more calls while we were standing there. Told them they needed to take care of all us there waiting before taking more orders AND telling those calling in “15 minutes” too! We had called in order. Today... menu on web page for Threeamigos $10.95. Actual $14.50 plus .25 take out charge. Green Sauce on Carnitas missing. Tortillas missing. And the Chile pepper of the relleno more raw and crunchy/hard than cooked. Sliced thru foilPan cutting it. Too bad I can’t add pictures. Used to be good. Wish they’d get their act together.

Amazing Experience every time I go!! In addition to an amazing hearty menu they also have a full vegetarian and vegan menu which is so hard to find around these parts!! Chefs will go out of their way to customize any dish to your liking as well! Must try their Fresh margaritas!! Made with hand squeezed fruit no mixers or syrup. Bartenders and waiters are so friendly you will quickly make you feel right at home.

Quick service and good food if a lacking strong flavor. It's certainly better than most of the standard Mexican restaurants that are in every town

Save your money. Taco Bell would have been more Mexican than this place. Sent food back and came home and ate. The server was nice. Beyond that, a complete waste of time and money. One star only because it wouldn’t let me post without picking at least one.

I got food poisoning from the shrimp fajitas. Horrible experience. I would NEVER suggest anyone eat here.

Food was great and service was pleasant. They made sure our twin toddlers food came out quickly so we didn't have any night time meltdowns - which made our meal even better. We always love stopping by El Zarape whenever we come to visit Emerald Isle!

This was a horrible dining experience. We called ahead to order take out cuz we were in a rush and we got there and stood for 12 min before anyone spoke to us then we said we called ahead and another 12 min later they told us they had no record of the call. So we left
